The root of the name B Aborbed is fairly straight forward.
The B is for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacons. Beacons are small, battery-powered, always-on devices that use BLE technology to transmit signals to devices, such as smartphones and tablets, within a range of about 150-300 feet. Beacons are one-way transmitters; they detect nearby devices in order to send them messages, but the target devices don’t send information back to the beacons. So they are great real world triggers without the concern about privacy.
The absorbed part is about the opportunity businesses have to use this technology to create incredible experiences. With the progress in Digital Realities a businesses opportunities are only limited by what they want to achieve. While using Beacons and our incredible app design museums and Parks can now reinvent how people experience them.
